The new Audi A8 will be in dealerships in April 2010. It retains the earlier concept of the aluminum hull ASF (Audi Space Frame), which provides a weight saving of approximately 40% compared to a steel construction. Initially, it will be sold with two engines, a 4.2 FSI 273 kW (372 hp) and 4.2 TDI 258 kW (350 hp) and shortly after, with a 3.0 TDI with 184 kW (250 hp) . Thereafter, it follows a second version of the 3.0 TDI with an output of 150 kW (204 hp). Consumption NEDC combined cycle is 6.0 l/100 km (159 g CO2 / km). The new Audi A8 will present some particular technological innovations.

The Audi A8 Series connects the GPS navigation system with the Advanced Management of xenon headlights to anticipate their direction and intensity. On freeways, for example, xenon headlight range is well adapted to the new environment of the vehicle upon entry into the fast lane. Similarly, before an intersection, the system activates the fire circle, which widens the field of light and increases security.

The Advanced GPS also comes on the program of gearshift dynamics DSP on the cruise control and ACC control of the gearbox. The DSP can thus take into account the arrival of turns in its strategy of shifting gears. On a narrow road, for example, it does not change speed unnecessarily. The ACC can now determine the exact path of a highway, even when cornering. It avoids most of the small errors as unintentional acceleration before a highway exit that the driver would take. As for the gearbox tiptronic, it does not unnecessarily gear up on a winding road or short journeys.

MMI multimedia interface is enriched by a touch pad (MMI Touch) interacting with the Advanced GPS . For the MMI control button, so the driver can control many functions in a more intuitively way, eg enter destination by writing the letters on the MMI Touch.
